Mold

Mold is a fungi that naturally grows in the environment. Its purpose is to break down dead materials to convert back to organic matter.

In order to thrive, mold needs oxygen and moisture. With these elements, wood, paper, carpet, food and even insulation all become meals. In buildings, mold destroys what it grows on. With sufficient moisture, and/or humidity, mold will flourish.

There are many different types of mold. Some, not as severe as others. Mold will reproduce by producing spores. These spores become airborne both in and outside. They are microscopic in size and easily inhaled. This presents a greater health risk. Inhaling or touching may induce an allergic reaction. Sneezing, runny nose and even skin rash are common. It can trigger asthma. With short term and long term exposure, Hypersensitivity pneumonitis may develop.
